Kasabian’s Tom Meighan: ‘I’ll be buying the new Aphex Twin album the second it comes out’

By Dan Stubbs, 17th September 2014

Kasabian’s Tom Meighan is among a host of names paying tribute to Aphex Twin in the new issue of NME, which is on newsstands now or available digitally.

Aphex Twin – real name Richard D James – returns this month with new album ‘Syro’ following an absence of more than a decade, and Meighan says he’ll be buying it the second it comes out.

Meighan, pictured right, said: “He’s just the fucking greatest, isn’t he? Thing about him is he’s a pioneer and a piss-taker – he’s not just evolving electronic music, he’s being fucking funny with it too, pushing people’s buttons with his dark sense of humour.”

"His music’s insane, but from what I know about him he’s not – he’s just a regular guy from Cornwall, wife and kids, the norm. Which makes it all the more amazing – listening to his music, it’s so mental, so maddening, you’d expect him to be some sort of deviant psycho. I fucking love him. He’s a massive influence and I’ll definitely be buying the new album the second it’s out. Yeah, can’t wait."
